Erik Essiger - Chairman & CEO. Mr. Essiger has over 20 years experience in corporate finance, strategy development and restructuring projects across a wide variety of sectors, including industrial, business services, retail and consumer goods.
Prior to founding Emirates Capital, Mr. Essiger founded SCP SWISS CAPITAL-PARTNERS AG, a corporate finance boutique in Switzerland, which has since been integrated into Emirates Capital. Prior to that, Mr. Essiger was Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Transaction Services Strategy Group in Frankfurt, focusing on commercial due diligence, strategy consulting and lead advisory. He acted as Board member of a venture capital company and as Managing Director of a number of corporates. Mr. Essiger has extensive international experience in Germany, Russia, Hong Kong and Switzerland and was previously a member of the German-Russian co-operation council.
Mr. Essiger received his MBA in Business Administration from J.W.-Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany.

Dr. Michael Fraenzel – Director. Dr. Fraenzel has over 23 years of experience in foreign trade. Prior to being Member of the Board & Director of Emirates Capital,” since 1988” Dr. Fraenzel was a Managing Director of TECHCONSULT GmbH, DREIEICH, GERMANY. Prior to that, “since 1996” Dr. Fraenzel acted as a Partner and was a Managing Director of Messrs. KARL KOLB Scientific Technical Supplies “since 2004”. He is a Cofounder, Partner and Managing Director of MDC Iraq Development Company GmbH in Berlin, a consulting company supporting German clients in their Iraq activities and runs local offices in Baghdad, Basrah and UAE.
Dr. Fraenzel is a Board Member of the German-Iraqi Association, Member of the German-Arab Association, Member of the Ghorfa, German-Arab chamber of Commerce, Member of the Africa Association, Board Member of the foreign trade board at the chamber of industry and commerce in Offenbach, Honoured Judge at the Country Court of Darmstadt, chamber for commercial matters Board Member Rotary Club Dreieich.
Dr. Fraenzel studied Business Administration at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University, Frankfurt/Germany. He wrote his doctoral thesis on “The relevance of contestable markets for trade-market-orientated strategies

Gregory Pritchard - Chief Financial Officer. Mr Pritchard is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, having qualified with a predecessor firm of Ernst & Young in 1982. He subsequently worked in the accounting profession in South Africa, with a predecessor firm of KPMG, and in London, with a predecessor firm of BDO Stoy Hayward. He has worked in industry and, more recently, since 2000, in The City of London.
Mr Pritchard received a Bachelor of Science honours degree in Finance and Accounting from the University of Salford, UK. |

Zaid Maleh - Managing Director. More than 12 years of experience in the Investment Banking industry & Middle East markets coverage. Mr. Maleh has an excellent international exposure and relationships with Governments, High Net Worth individuals, Family Offices through to SWFs & Financial Institutions in Europe and throughout the MENA region.
Prior to The Emirates Capital Limited Mr. Maleh was the Head of Investment Banking Middle East & Africa at VTB Capital, based in the DIFC, he also held senior positions within Gatehouse Bank and Raiffeisen Bank International in Vienna and London in the area of M&A Advisory, Debt & Equity Capital Markets as well as Islamic Finance focusing on Emerging Markets.
Mr. Maleh started his professional career back in 2000 as a consultant on Middle Eastern affairs to the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna (UNIS, IAEA).
He is an active member of several business councils across Europe and the Middle East e.g. Austrian Business Council, GHORFA, Arab Bankers Association & the German Emirates Club.
An Austrian National of Syrian origin, Mr. Maleh holds a MSc in Economics & Business Administration from the Vienna University of Economics and is fluent in Arabic, English German and Advanced in Russian language.

Usman Butt – Chief Compliance Officer & Company Secretary. Mr Butt has gained 13 years experience in the field of financial services regulation and compliance. He served as Head of Compliance & Company Secretary at Global Commodity Finance - a DIFC Investments Islamic Financial Services subsidiary after leaving his position as Head of Compliance of the Islamic asset manager and operator of Islamic funds, Oasis Crescent Capital. His sound founding in regulation and compliance stems from his work with the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) as Senior Manager, Authorisation/ Licensing from 2003 until 2008 and his years with the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) as a Senior Policy Associate from 1998 to 2002. The early years of Mr Butt’s professional career were spent at the global investment banking institutions, Barclays de Zoete Wedd (as Treasury & Futures Settlements Analyst) and Credit Suisse Financial Products (as Regulatory Reporting Accountant).
Mr Butt received his Masters of Science in International Banking & Financial Studies from the University of Southampton – UK; and his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with Economics & Management Studies from Royal Holloway College, University of London - UK.

Ali Al Omari - Senior Associate. Prior to joining Emirates Capital, Mr. Omari worked as a Senior Business Associate at GFS Investments – a Dubai-based investment company, where he was responsible for building, managing, and advising an extensive network of family offices and High Net Worth Individuals on international commodities and other specific financial instruments. Mr. Omari started his career as a business consultant in the Technology and Telecommunication sector in the UAE.
Mr. Omari holds a MSc in Applied Finance and Banking from the University of Wollongong and a Bachelors in Telecommunication & Electronics Engineering.

Donna Daou - Team Assistant. Prior to joining Emirates Capital, Ms. Daou was the Administration / Human Resources Manager at GFS Investments Middle East Limited (a DIFC based company). With more than 6 years of experience having worked with various financial services and hospitality groups in Beirut, and Dubai, she was also founder and co-owner of a Limited Liabilities Hospitality Company and brings immense in-depth knowledge and experience at Emirates Capital.
Ms. Daou holds a Diploma in Ticketing & IATA/UFTAA Foundation and EBT course from the American Universal College in Lebanon and was a student of Psychology at the Lebanese University. Apart from her extensive organizational skills and work dedication, Donna is fluent in Arabic, French, and English.

MARIA LUISA G. DIAMANTE - Team Assistant / Accounts. Prior to joining Emirates Capital, Ms. Diamante worked as Executive Assistant for top financial executives as well as Finance and Admin Assistant in a real estate company in Dubai. She holds a degree in Business Administration from the University of the Philippines, graduating cum laude and a consistent college scholar.
Ms. Diamante worked as Account Officer of EuroCredit, a financing institution in the Philippines. Promoted to the role of Branch OIC in less than one year, she facilitated branch expansions while serving also as Institutional Officer of the same. She advanced her career working as Executive Assistant for the Managing Director of Terramedic, a pharmaceutical company and VP for Finance and Admin of Drugmaker’s Laboratories, a manufacturing company based also in the Philippines.
