Erik Essiger


Mr. Erik Essiger serves as the Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, and Co-Founder of The Emirates Capital Limited. Prior to founding Emirates Capital, Mr. Essiger established SCP SWISS CAPITAL-PARTNERS AG a Corporate Finance Boutique in Switzerland, a company which has been integrated into Emirates Capital. Prior to that Mr. Essiger was Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Transaction Services Strategy Group in Frankfurt, focusing on Commercial Due Diligence, ... strategy consulting and lead advisory. Mr. Essiger has 20 years experience in corporate finance, strategy development and restructuring projects across a wide variety of sectors, in particular industrial, business services, retail and consumer goods. He acted as Board member of a Venture Capital company and as Managing Director of a number of corporates. Mr. Essiger has extensive international experience in Germany, Russia, Hong Kong and Switzerland and was a member of the German-Russian co-operation council. Mr. Essiger has graduated in Business Administration from J.W.-Goethe University, Frankfurt, Germany. Mr. Michael Hübener serves as the Chief Financial Officer, Co-Founder, and Director of The Emirates Capital Limited. Prior to co-founding Emirates Capital, Mr. Hübener was a Partner at Portfolio Consulting in Hamburg, Germany where he was responsible for business development and M&A transactions. Before that he was with Brown Brothers Harriman & Company in New York. During his studies of economics at the University of Heidelberg, he worked for Jobs & Lemcke Wertpapierhandels ... AG, an equity brokerage firm in Frankfurt am Main. Mr. Hübener holds a Masters of Business Administration degree from the University of Buckingham.

Michael Hübener - Member of the Board & CFO. Mr. Hübener has 10 years of experience in mergers and acquistions, portfolio management and business development across various sectors. Prior to co-founding Emirates Capital, Mr. Hübener was a Partner at Portfolio Consulting in Hamburg, Germany where he was responsible for business development and M&A transactions. Prior to that, he was with Brown Brothers Harriman & Company in New York. During his studies, he worked as a prop trader for Jobs & Lemcke Wertpapierhandels AG, an equity brokerage firm in Frankfurt am Main.

Mr. Hübener received his MBA degree from the University of Buckingham. and his Bachelors in Economics from the University of Heidelberg.



Usman Butt – Chief Compliance Officer & Company Secretary. Mr Butt has gained 13 years experience in the field of financial services regulation and compliance. He served as Head of Compliance & Company Secretary at Global Commodity Finance - a DIFC Investments Islamic Financial Services subsidiary after leaving his position as Head of Compliance of the Islamic asset manager and operator of Islamic funds, Oasis Crescent Capital. His sound founding in regulation and compliance stems from his work with the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA) as Senior Manager, Authorisation/ Licensing from 2003 until 2008 and his years with the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) as a Senior Policy Associate from 1998 to 2002. The early years of Mr Butt’s professional career were spent at the global investment banking institutions, Barclays de Zoete Wedd (as Treasury & Futures Settlements Analyst) and Credit Suisse Financial Products (as Regulatory Reporting Accountant).

Mr Butt received his Masters of Science in International Banking & Financial Studies from the University of Southampton – UK; and his Bachelors of Science in Mathematics with Economics & Management Studies from Royal Holloway College, University of London - UK.





Khuram Maqsood - Managing Director. Mr. Maqsood has over 12 years of investment banking, project management and private equity experience. Prior to joining Emirates Capital, Mr. Maqsood was Director and co-head of the Industrials Vertical at Istithmar World Capital, a Dubai-based government investment company. Prior to Istithmar, Mr. Maqsood was a founding team member of Dubai International Capital, an investment company owned by the ruling family of Dubai, where he was responsible for building DIC’s private equity funds portfolio. Mr. Maqsood started his career in investment banking at CIBC Oppenheimer and HCFP Brenner Securities in New York.

Mr. Maqsood received his MBA from Harvard Business School and his BS in Business Administration from Georgetown University, graduating magna cum laude.  He previously served as a Director/Observer on the Boards of Switzerland-based SR Technics Group and Dubai Aerospace Enterprise.



Sandra Dierstein - Senior Manager of Corporate Finance. Ms. Dierstein has extensive strategy, consulting and advisory experience across Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Europe. Prior to joining Emirates Capital, Ms. Dierstein was a Manager with PwC Transaction Services Strategy Group in Singapore, London and Frankfurt where she was responsible for leading cross-border commercial due diligence, strategy consulting and M&A advisory projects for private equity clients and MNCs. Before joining PwC, Ms. Dierstein was with Ernst & Young's Corporate Finance M&A Team in Germany.

Zeid Massad - Senior Associate. Prior to joining Emirates Capital, Mr. Massad was a sell side equity analyst in Credit Suisse covering industrials, energy and transport within Middle East and North Africa. Between 2006 and 2008, he worked with FBR Capital Markets (Washington, DC) in the Energy & Natural Resources team covering oil & gas and mining equities in the USA and Canada. Prior to that, Mr. Massad was with Arab Bank PLC’s Europe area credit department where he was responsible for part of Arab Bank’s corporate lending portfolio in Europe. He started his career in public accounting with Deloitte in Amman, Jordan.

Mr. Massad received his MBA degree from the George Washington University in Washington, DC and Bachelors in Accountancy from the University of Jordan in Amman, Jordan. He is also a recipient of the Fulbright Scholarship.



Ali Al Omari - Associate. Prior to joining Emirates Capital, Mr. Al Omari worked as a Senior Business Associate at GFS Investments – a Dubai-based investment company, where he was responsible for building, managing, and advising an extensive network of family office managers and High Net Worth Individuals.

Mr. Al Omari received a Bachelors degree in Telecommunications Engineering from Ajman University of Science and Technology in the United Arab Emirates and is currently a CFA Level 1 candidate.
